What's the difference between gasoline, kerosene, diesel, etc?
Kerosene is a combustible hydrocarbon liquid.
Kerosene is widely used to power jet engines of aircraft (jet fuel) and some rocket engines, but is also commonly used as a cooking and lighting fuel and for fire toys such as poi.

Kerosene-type jet fuel (including Jet A and Jet A-1) has a carbon number distribution between about 8 and 16 (carbon atoms per molecule); wide-cut or naphtha-type jet fuel (including Jet B), between about 5 and 15.

Total kerosene consumption is equivalent to about 1.2 million barrels per day.
