Minister for R&B, G.M.Saroori has asked the National Building Construction Corporation (NBCC) to speed up the work and ensure timely completion of the all the 8 projects taken in hand in Srinagar city. He told them not to take up any new project until these 8 projects are completed.

The Minister, according to an official statement, was speaking at a meeting of engineers convened to review the pace of work of the projects taken in hand in the R&B sector.

Chief Engineer, R&B, Kashmir, Mir Shafi Ahmad, Chief Engineer, PMGSY, Khalid Muzaffar Superintending Engineer, ERA, Nazir Ahmad, Engineers of Rural Engineering Wing and UEED were present on the occasion.

It was given out in the meeting that work on 23 projects taken up by ERA coming up at a cost of Rs.445 crores is in full swing, out of which Rs.230 crores stand expended so far. The meeting was informed that 7 bridges out of 20 have been completed and 3 bridges out of five being constructed in Srinagar, would be ready by the end of this year. The meeting was told that 80 projects taken up in Ist and 2nd phase of PMGSY by Rural Engineering Wing (REW) at a cost of Rs. 73 crore have been completed and work on another 22 projects is going on.
