Erection — an increase in the volume of the penis cured by filling with blood. An erection is called by impulses coming during sexual excitation of nerve cells in the lumbar spinal cord.

Erections in humans (unlike animals) can occur without a physical impact on the erogenous zones and the visual presence of the object of desire. For an erection it is enough an image like object in consciousness. So, an erection occurs when man thoughts about sex. 

An erection occurs as a result of increased blood flow to the genitals during sexual excitement. Blood circulation is increased in 10 times (or more) in the penis, and strong muscle reduction of perineum and prostate happens . At the same time the reduction of muscle at the root of the penis happens.
Penis increases in volume in 3-4 times and reaches a length of 14-18 cm. during the erection. The nerve centers of the brain and spinal cord govern this process.

Erection Types:
Psychogenic erections occurs due to excitation with visual, hearing, taste, smell and sensations.

Reflex erection – this type occurs automatically

Usually men get normal erections of psychogenic and reflex type. If it is difficult to get an erection Psychogenic type, you can use reflective type. This happens when the man has some diseases of the urogenital system.

Spontaneous erections during sleep, arousal occurs without consciousness.

Erection sometimes occurs in the morning or at night. It is connected with dreams with sexual content or bladder overflow. This is normal.
