Since nouns can do many things in a sentence, the way they are = diagrammed=20 depends on the way that they are acting in each sentence.
Here is a diagram of the following noun jobs: subject, direct object, = indirect object, and object of the preposition.
Subject: The students happily studied=20 grammar.
Direct Object: The students happily studied = grammar.
Indirect Object: They taught their friends grammar.
Object of the Preposition: Their friends smiled with glee.
Predicate Nouns: They were grammar champions!
