What should you do if the 9-1-1 operator says it is not an emergency and 3-1-1 says the issue is not listed among those resolved by 3-1-1?

E-mail, fax, or postal mail the issues to those empowered(having duty) to resolve the issues.

What information should you keep ready while calling 9-1-1, 3-1-1, or the equivalent in an emergency or non-emergency?

When reporting an emergency:
* Remain Calm
* Speak Clearly
* Provide your exact location and phone number
* Briefly describe the nature of the emergency
* Answer all questions
* Do not hang up until the dispatcher tells you to do so
* If there is a medical emergency, you will be given medical instructions that can help the patient

When is 311 available?

All calls to 311 are answered by a live operator from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.Â

Examples of calls intended for 3-1-1:

* dead animal removal
* debris in roadway
* illegal burning
* non-working streetlamps, parking meters, traffic lights
