Essential skills What are examples of essential skills? The essential skills enumerated above are recognized by all education departments around the world as essential skills. Various findings have revealed that some teachers and professors could not email or call because they did not have essential skills. If teachers do not have essential skills, students are not going to learn. What are Essential Skills? A good working definition of Essential Skills is: Essential Skills are the skills needed for work, learning and life. They provide the foundation for learning all other skills and enable people to evolve with their jobs and adapt to workplace change. Essential Skills are another way to talk about literacy skills development. They were created for the workplace. Add, subtract, multiply, and divide real numbers. Continuous learning Computer Use - working with computers, from entering information, to knowing a software package, to managing a network, to analyzing and designing systems. English language reading abilities. English language speaking abilities. English language understanding abilities. English language writing abilities.
